‘Knives’ was recorded during 'The Truth' album sessions, but we thought it worked best as a vinyl single for DJs as it’s such a massive club track. It’s purpose built for sound systems the world over with its direct floor techno with some quick edits and quirky touches.
This is also the only chance for vinyl junkies to get hold of album tracks on their favourite format with ‘Emotional Violence’ and ‘Radioactive’ both taken from ‘The Truth’. ‘Emotional Violence’ was the final track Woolford recorded and, according to the man himself, “came completely out of nowhere”. “Sometimes I will just sit in my studio playing keys with no aim or intention, other then to let out whatever decides it must be released,” he explains. “After recording a long string passage, I looped up the part that you hear here, which pushed me onto finding that thick, analogue Moroder-esque bassline which swells & winds it's way throughout. The final part of the jigsaw was the jazz sample, which I did some deliberation about, finally making up my mind that it would be a good thing to throw in some element of curveball rather than keep it 100% electronic and predictable.”
‘Radioactive’ has been a part of the “narcotic, trippy & tracky sections of Woolford’s sets and is the second straight-up house track on the album. “That 6/8 clockwork sound at the start is there to disorientate,” he explains. “ Just before the drums start, and then it builds into this quite robotic, throbbing, bass heavy groove.”
