'No Order' is one of the highlights from the debut album of the same name and has been compared favourably to the work of New Order. For the vinyl single release we looked for more obvious dancefloor remixes and had a (very) shortlist of potential remixers who would do it justice, but in the end we decided that 'if you want something doing, do it yourself'. 2020Soundsystem had just produced amazing remixes of Peace Division and Chicken Lips so we put it to the band to do it themselves and what a job they've done!
The original album track was born out of a remix request for the Soundsystem to do their thing with a track by New York band The Glass. They were so into the singer's voice that they asked him to guest on the album. This has resulted in a two-track collaboration with Dominique and Glen on No Order and Won't Bother Me. The A-side 2020Soundsystem remix is a brilliant, epic mix in two parts, it starts as classic 2020Soundsystem electrofunk with Dominique's poignant, haunting vocals and morphs halfway into a Berlin meets Detroit meets New York techno disco odyssey. The 'Discoteque Dub' is the first of two superb dub mixes, it takes the electro disco bassline and Danny's rock solid beats to form the basis of an exceptional modern, Italo-influenced electro dub. Check the live v-drum toms from Danny, this is the essence of 2020Soundsystem seamlessly merging live and electronic for the 21st century disco. The 'Basics Dub', as the name suggests, has been seriously road tested at the Leeds underground institution Basics and tips its hat to the sounds of classic Chicago and New York house. This is one seriously cool and playable dub with Fernando's live bass taking over and Ralph working the arrangement especially for the dancefloor.
