2020 Vision Recordings

This unique debut album from Leeds based band Silver City tells their story as they travel from Buenos Aries to Leeds via Ibiza, Miami, Paris, and London. Their influences range from Rock to Funk via House and Disco, resulting in one of the crossover albums of Summer 2005.

The Silver City sound on their debut album is unique, but can loosely be pieced together from their influences that range from Funkadelic to David Bowie, from Daft Punk to The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and a multitude of different influences in-between. Tracks like ‘Down Til Seven’ , ‘In My Mind’,  ‘What You Get’,  ‘Funkshion’ and ‘Say Hi’  (with a surprisingly Shaun Ryder inspired vocal performance from Fernando) cement the lad’s reputation as purveyors of the finest, freshest, live, modern P-funk sounds.  ‘La Seine’ and ‘Disco Roads’ showcase their more laidback approach to song writing and groove along at an afterhours disco speed with depths and layers that demand with repeated listens. ‘Dance Til The Morning’ and ‘Another Dimension’ are classic pieces of Electro pop proving that Fernando and Julian have classic ‘pop ‘ ears and song-writing skills Listening to ‘Boulevard’ I am instantly transported to Tatooine, catching the Cantina Band from Star Wars, but that may just be me!  Finally ‘Shiver’ is a real highlight of the album and is a classic piece of indie flavoured rock that The Doves would be proud of!
