Here Danny 'Dubble D' Ward collaborates with one of his musical idols, the Brazilian jazz legend Flora Purim and her equally talented daughter, Diana Booker, this is a highlight of the superb Dubble D debut album, and had to be released as a single.
Switch is a beautiful, deep, soulful nu-jazz/house combination. Flora and Diana duet with a beautiful mix of Portuguese and English vocals riding over Danny’s cool, shuffling rhythms. This is a real melting pot of classic Latin jazz vocals and modern beats, and has already caused quite a stir in jazzy circles.
Appropriately we have Dave Taylor (AKA Solid Groove) on the mix in his Switch guise.As expected he delivers a grimy, rude, twisted, jackin’ house workout that keeps the jazzy, latin feel intact (just).
Lastly, the cornet dub is a real treat for all the jazzy DJ’s out there, nothing but Danny’s nu-jazz/house rhythms and Steve’s live cornet on this ace version.
