This is another fine example of the diverse sound the boys create when their heads meet. Solid dancefloor grooves that make you move.
As with any 2020Soundsystem release there are no samples, just the finest live electronic funk, mixing live bass and keys with studio technology.
Ran’ is an eight minute journey into peak time, space terrace, electro house of the highest order. Fernando’s distorted bass and Julian’s space age keys take centre stage weaving over Ralph and Dannys tight beats. Put the needle on the record, stand back and wait for the killer breakdown to knock the crowd on their collective arse.
‘Itch’ takes the groove from ‘Hey Jack’ and displays the band’s sense of humour with MC Wulf taking the Mic(hael).
‘Hey Jack!’ is a superb, loose electrofunk bomb, that gets you pulling all sorts of daft shapes on the dancefloor. Shit scratches, guitars, spacefunk riffs and vocals mix it up for a true modern funk classic.
‘Wulf Funks’ closes the EP in style, showcasing the band’s disco sensibilities, with wah wah guitar and Fernando’s signature bass taking centre stage, this is how Jay Kay wishes his band sound would sound.
