Paul Woolford presents Bobby Peru
Paul Woolford has developed a unique sound that sets his studio productions aside from the crowd and it’s no exaggeration to say that he is up-there amongst some of the most original producers in electronic music right now. On top of a prolific studio output, Paul’s DJ diary is packed out with dates booked around the globe and he has built a name for himself amongst the very best. In fact, after his set to a 20,000 strong crowd at Serbia’s Exit festival this summer Danny Tenaglia gave him the accolade of being his “new favourite DJ”. This rendered Woolford speechless. In the last two years he has gone on to become a key resident at We Love Space in Ibiza, and is ready for his third in 2008.
In between his residencies at the summer's best clubbing spot and Ministry of Sound’s Club Class he makes regular appearances at other major club nights such as Fabric, Pacha in Buenos Aires, Chicago’s Smart Bar, Peter Pan in Rimini and Tokyo’s famous Womb club. He’s also a regular feature on the festival circuit with recent appearances at Creamfields (UK & Buenos Aires), Berlin’s Love Parade and joined Deepdish on their Global Underground album tour of North America last year.
Massively passionate about making music, Woolford dedicates hours to production time and has proved that he has the ability to actually create a genre-defining sound. An example of this talent was twisted monster Erotic Discourse last year, which became our biggest hit to date selling over 10,000 copies, capturing the imagination of DJs across the board with support from The Chemical Brothers, Richie Hawtin and DJ Hell to Francois Kevorkian, Trevor Jackson, and Erol Alkan.
Not only has Woolford shown his skills on 12”s, he has also proved himself to be a highly credible and successful album artist. After his massively well-received debut Death of a Player in 2002, Woolford is back with superb follow-up The Truth in February next year. The highly acclaimed Death of .. received 5/5 reviews across the board, with many magazines correctly predicting that Bobby Peru would become a force to be reckoned on the cutting edge of electronic music. In the last few years, those predictions have been proved right with superb productions on some of the hottest labels around, including his Body Double series on own label Intimacy. After a few years perfecting his skills in the studio and road-testing his sounds as a DJ, Woolford has brought this experience to the table, consolidated it and created a superb second album. The Truth is out now.
