Nick Chacona

We’d been Nick Chacona fans for a long time, so we were very pleased to welcome him into the 2020 fold in 2006. His first single for us, Through The Door in 2006, opened Nick's 2020 account in style. Imagine Lindstrom on disco biscuits and you get the idea. He followed this up with Tonka on World Series Vol2 earlier this year, which was a massive new house outing, bringing the disco sensibilities from previous releases on Bearfunk and Hector Works and of course the superb Through The Door into a deep, hypnotic house setting. Although he never had the chance to go, this is Nick’s take on what he imagines Harvey played at his legendary Tonka parties in London.  This is probably Nick's biggest tune yet and we’re yet to see a dancefloor that it hasn't rocked.
Nick lives in New York and has been developing his catchy and melodic sound for the last ten years. His love of reggae, hip hop, disco and house can all be heard influencing his work, which combines live instruments with state of the art production techniques, whilst still capturing an authentic retro sound. His first releases came out in 2003 on Strata Recordings, firstly ‘Nunca Pare’, followed by his Tour de force ‘Band Practice’, the B-side to his promo-only "Pool Party" project. Last year Band Practice was re-released with a pair of Idjut Boys mixes by San Francisco imprint, Hector Works. This year has seen Nick release several key records, including ‘A Cambria Heights Affair’ (Bear Funk), ‘Lagavulin’ (Hector Works), ‘The Right Wing’ (SAW) which went straight into the Buzz Chart and just out is his latest collaboration with friend and accomplice Sasse under their moniker The Green Men on Moodmusic ‘The Fog’ with a remix by Metro Area’s Darshan Jesrani.
