Audiojack
Some acts take their time and build slowly, but some smash it from day one and that is exactly what Audiojack have managed to do in just two short years. Jamie Rial and Richard Burkinshaw exploded on to the scene in 2006 with a string of top selling singles and have continued on an upward trajectory ever since.
You know you’re off to a good start when your very first single sells over 10,000 copies. ‘Robot’ was a massive club hit for the boys and resulted in gigs around the world and the kind of profile most artists struggle to achieve in years of hard work. You’ve either got it, or you haven’t, and these guys have definitely got whatever that ‘it’ is. They immediately followed up this success with a remix of ‘Erotic Discourse’, which again caused serious damage in the world of clubs.
Since then Audiojack have gone on to prove they are far from one hit wonders with a string of excellent remixes for the likes of Underworld, 2020Soundsystem and Renaissance. They’ve also firmly established themselves as international players on the live circuit, going straight to headline act status on numerous occasions. They were invited to perform at the massively respected Fuji Rocks festival in Japan last year and played to 15,000 strong crowds on a recent Brazilian tour. In total they have played over 250 dates across 30 countries, building on their initial success and spreading the word.
Late last year the guys felt it was time to come off the road, put other projects on hold and get back in the studio to produce their debut album. ‘Radio’ is a truly superb album that will surprise many people and excite many more. Keeping the project under complete wraps until it was all but finished, Audiojack finally invited Ralph Lawson around to hear the demo version. Ralph was ‘truly blown away’ by the airing. It is the first time in 15 years that an act has presented a complete album to him that he felt needed no A&R input. All he helped on was track selection and order. ‘Radio’ is pretty much exactly as it sounded on that cold wet night in Leeds.
It is a no-holes-barred electronic album, in a field where there are so few acts producing such a significant body of high quality work. Audiojack have the potential to take this sound on the road and develop it into a great live show such as Underworld, Orbital, Leftfield, daft punk, The Chemical Brothers and Simian have done before them.
‘Radio’ is the culmination of all their hard work and proves that these two young Leeds-based producers can compete with any act out there by creating a cohesive, expertly produced album of electronic club music. Check it out!
